This year, inspiration for International Women’s Day has been higher than ever and there are so many brilliant events going on this week. We might even need time-travel to attend them all.

LIVE MUSIC & DISCUSSION— 4TH MARCH (BERLIN)

shesaid.so Berlin & The Fika Session are teaming up for a live music and discussion event in celebration of International Women’s Day 2019.

The panel welcomes creative womxn in leadership positions to share the challenges and successes they’ve experienced in their careers, the importance of female role models, and explore ways to build stronger support for females in the creative industry. The audience is invited to participate in the discussion, enjoy a musical performance, plus networking and drinks! More info & RSVP here.

DISCUSSION & DJ LINE-UP — 6TH MARCH (LONDON)

Part 1 of 3, in our new series ‘The Womxn Do Business’, ssso London host a selection of DJs who discuss how to make playing pay as we seek to champion you womxn who are building businesses from the ground up.

She.grows is partnering up with Fora for IWD and putting on a breakfast meet up!

Fora has created a schedule of events across the week of International Women’s Day, and we are very excited to be taking part in this. Drop in for coffee and pastries on the 7th for networking with womxn from the music industry.

SONOS x SHESAID.SO — 8TH MARCH (NEW YORK)

Sonos and #shesaidsoNYC are teaming up again in 2019 to celebrate International Women’s Day with an event at the Sonos Store New York. The evening will celebrate womanhood and sisterhood, in the company of an all-star lineup made up of some of our favorite female-owned and female-led businesses in New York. Each room in the store will showcase their work, merch and more, all while listening to music curated by our guests. The event will also include a live music performance by EB Rebel, drinks and bites, plus the opportunity to connect with shesaidso members and other extraordinary humans of New York. COS YOU’RE FXCKING WORTH IT — 8TH MARCH (LONDON)

A club night at The Curtain, in collaboration with collectives Girls I Rate, Flexx and The Sorority House & Co.

With a stellar all-female line up of DJs, performers and special guests to keep the night going until the small hours. DJ’s on the night are DJ Nikki Beatnik (One of the first UK female Hip Hop DJ’S & Kelis’s Official Tour DJ), Melody Kane (International DJ in clubs & festivals), Jamz Supernova (BBC Radio 1Xtra DJ) B2B Special Guest, Ellie Prohan (Rock The Belles & Foundation FM). Plus a performance from Miraa May the up coming singer has already worked with the likes of Salaam Remi. Get tickets here!

IWD x SSSOLA PARTY — 8TH MARCH (LA)

To celebrate International Women’s Day, shesaidso LA is throwing a party with an all-female DJ lineup featuring some of our favorite women behind the decks in LA. Join us for an evening that celebrates women, sisterhood and inclusion for all.

The venue is really special and one of our new favorite spots in LA. All we can say is that it’s in Hollywood! More info upon RSVP (RSVP does not guarantee entry).

“EVERY DAY IS WOMEN’S DAY” — 8TH MARCH (BARCELONA)

shesaid.so and Casa Bonay join forces on women’s day for DJs, dinner, discussions and workshops! The hotel opens its doors to this collective of women of music to be the epicenter of a small revolution.
A day of celebration in which the woman will be the only protagonist. A day of thought, created and directed by and for us, where everyone, regardless of their sex, is welcome. Featuring DJs Tere Tropical; Ca Ty; Ari Good2b; Troya Modet; Sonido Tupinamba, “A survey of Female Music & Technology Networks” presentation & discussion, a special selection of women’s writers by Lino bookstore plus a special yoga workshop! SSSO BELGIUM x Psst Mademoiselle— 8TH MARCH (BRUSSELS)

shesaid.so Belgium is supporting the Psst Mademoiselle Live Sessions IWD & anniversary event by participating in the debate “How can the cultural sector better mirror society’s diversity?”, which will highlight how far we are as far as diversity in the cultural sector is concerned; the pertinence of female line-ups and events focussing on artists from the MENA region and which tactics are available to make it more open. Tune in from 2pm — 4pm on The Word. The session will be moderated by Emi Vergs with Eline Van Audenaerde from shesaid.so Belgium, Yvoire de Rosen from Mwanamke Collectif Afroféministe Belge and Oumayma Hammadi from RainbowHouse Brussels.

SSSO ITALY — HOUSE CONCERT — 9TH MARCH (MILAN)

To continue the celebrations in to the weekend, shesaid.so italy is celebrating this International Women’s Day with a secret house concert in Milan featuring three incredible Italian female musicians, Any Other, Ginevra and Eugenia Post Meridiem. Pick up a ticket here.

Dance for Refuge International Women’s day w/ Special Guests (London) — free production workshops to women in London and Manchester on Native Instruments gear. Sign up here! Dance for Refuge are also hosting an IWD party at FOLD, with special guest line-up including Gwenan, Nite Fleit, Danielle & Liv Ayers! Tickets here.

L’appel du 8 Mars — Paris. The round-table and live music night is dedicated to the promotion of female artists on the electronic music industry. Info & tickets here.

Brixton POP — A night of music and poetry with all-girl group BPM (Babes Poems & Music). DJs for the evening include Trudy.JPG, Janelle Wynter, Tika and Legz. We’ll be playing disco, house, Rnb, hip-hop and all of the hits you’d want to hear by your favourite femme artists. The event is free 7–12pm. Details here.

IWD x Apple x SISTER Collective — A week-long series of free workshops, with immersive sessions with established trailblazers & emerging artists & creators. Find the line-up here.

Point Blank Music School day course, 12th March— the day will feature a number of special guest speakers discussing their roles and experiences in various sectors of the music industry. Info & sign up here.

IWD at The Jazz Cafe, Camden (London). Headlined by Madison McFerrin.

Dance for Refuge — As a collective that aims to raise funds for the worst affected areas of the refugee crisis, this dance will see all profits being donated to Women For Refugee Women — a charity specialising in helping women of a refugee background both in and out of the UK.
