The new shesaid.so community hub for ALICE & NINA members — what to expect
I created shesaid.so six years ago with a simple goal in mind: to connect women and gender minorities in music. I knew that when womxn come together to support each other, great things happen. Little did I know that it will become so much more than that. It will become a movement.
A few things you’ll see quickly that make shesaid.so different:
- It’s Ours. As we build this community together, we have some great features for creating exclusive content, initiating deep conversations, signing up to mentoring programs, and attending online or IRL (in-real-life) events. We are constantly listening to feedback from YOU to ensure we are continuing to evolve into a community where everyone’s voice is heard.
- This is a carefully curated community. Our members include a diverse pool of woman-identifying music professionals who are decision makers in their fields, as well as promising young talent. Our members come from all areas of the music business. We take pride in having built a safe and authentic space where all women and gender minorities in music are welcome. That’s why each one of our members has been carefully curated to ensure everyone shares our values and ethos, and actively participates in the community.
- We are local and global. Our community was founded in London in September 2014. Since then, we have grown to more than 10,000 members across 15+ local chapters and growing.
We love allies
While the shesaid.so community hub as well as its local chapters are womxn-only, our projects and events are typically open to a mixed audience and our guests come from a variety of backgrounds. The reason for this is that we want to create more bridges between people of all genders in the music industry, to have open and uncomfortable conversations that make change possible, and to do so in a collaborative way.
Our solution to getting men and other individuals or orgs involved in this conversation is our new Patreon page. Here, our goal is to build the music industry’s leading community of allies and work on solutions, together. We are changing the music industry into a marketplace where all people have access to equal opportunity, treatment and pay.
What you should expect from the new shesaid.so community hub
Upon joining us on Patreon, ALICE and NINA members will be invited to the new shesaid.so community hub.
We want your experience here to be rewarding. Here are 12 key things you can expect from the new platform:
- Create your own member profile.
- Connect with other members based on interests and location.
- Flexible email integration — you are in charge of the notifications you get from us.
- Host your own member-only events.
- Download the shesaid.so community app.
- Attend events IRL or URL designed to boost your career and grow your network.
- Take part in our mentoring programs, either as a mentor or mentee.
- Get exclusive content, conversations and opportunities you can’t find anywhere else.
- Swap stories, experiences, and ideas around our shared mission
- Find a little inspiration, thought-provoking conversations, and expert perspective each and every day.
- Make a positive impact.
- Advance your career.
Most importantly, as an ALICE or NINA member in the new community hub, you will be able to connect with other members more easily than ever before. To make it even easier, you will be able to make new connections based on your location, interests or mutual friends.
You will also be able to create and share your own content, host your own events, start conversations, run polls, and so much more.
To make this a reality, we’re going to need your help. Every time you contribute a story, experience, or idea, you’re building a knowledge base every member of this community can tap to make better decisions.
And when you invite just one more member, you’re adding rocket fuel to what this community can accomplish together. It’s why we’re here and why we’re grateful you’re here with us as well. If you’re inclined to invite other women or gender minorities to join our community, please ask them to visit our Patreon page first.
