The Alternative Power 100 Music List returns, powered by shesaid.so & Patreon

Last year the shesaid.so community grew to include a Patreon based subscription and this year we’re thrilled to say that they are partnering with us to celebrate The New Creative Economy with the Alternative Power 100 Music List.

Since its inception in 2017 as an alternative to Billboard’s Power 100 List, the #AltList, has evolved as a prestigious and sought-after event by executives, artists, and other creators in the music industry, focusing on traditionally underrepresented communities such as women, people of colour, the LGBTQ+ community, and people from emerging markets, acting as a pioneer for those who often go unnoticed.

The theme of this year’s #AltList is The New Creative Economy, with Patreon and shesaid.so partnering to celebrate those at the forefront of this new era for the music industry, which has been ushered in by independent creators breaking down the barriers that have limited their success. From architecting new ways of owning work to community-supported funding, the music industry, both small and big, is building a new creative economy where independent creators can fully thrive.

Andreea Magdalina, founder of shesaid.so, said:

“We want to continue our globally recognised work in empowering those in the music industry and creating a more equitable future. Patreon is a perfect partner for the #AltList and we’re looking forward to working closely together on a number of events where we can explore how to make the new creative economy successful for all at a time when it’s needed most.”

Ena Grosssteinbeck, Head of Marketing, Europe, at Patreon added:

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with shesaid.so, an organisation that, like Patreon, believes in the value of independent creators and the need to create a world where they can fully thrive. We recognise the daily realities and challenges of our creator community around the world and this partnership demonstrates that they are seen and heard and, most importantly, that we understand them. Ultimately, we want to give those who are underrepresented a vital voice in the music business.”

This year will be even bigger with a series of community deep-dive events to be held virtually and physically throughout the year. We’ll be exploring the themes and extending the conversation around The New Creative Economy, connect creator communities and celebrate successful music stories.

Make sure you’re signed up to our mailing list so you don’t miss out.

Patreon is a membership platform that makes it easy for artists and creators to get paid and connect with their fans in a meaningful way. They will be co-presenting the Alternative Power 100 Music List, which now contains ten categories, and will also present the Breakthrough Artist award, a special award dedicated to shining a spotlight on the talented creators using the Patreon platform. Previous honourees of the list include Imogen Heap, musician, Jyoty Singh, DJ and radio host, Dorothy Hui, SVP of Digital & Audience Development, Sony Music UK, and Julia Killer, Head of Label Partnerships, EMEA, at Facebook. The awards will take place in December 2021.
